POP THE CHAMPAGNE; I'M CHANGING MY LAST NAME

Wedding Planners | 09/08/2020

By Celia Bezares matus

WEDDING DATE: March 3, 2018.
GUEST COUNT: 314
INVOLVEMENT: Full consulting
THE COUPLE: I met this beautiful couple one year before their wedding, when I was coordinating their best friend’s wedding and both of them were part of the bridal party. Joss and Irving saw my work and they loved it and since that moment we had a great connection.

Wedding planning/style inspiration
INSPIRATION: contact with nature and relax.
“AHA” MOMENT: When we make sure the food will be plenty food for every one and when we agreed to maintain the menu and the cake design relaxed, in a way that we could incorporated informal yet classy concepts.

MOST UNIQUE DESIGN ELEMENT: The ceiling, we choose two different colors of our palette and left the middle transparent, then we add candles and green foliage and for the final touch the illumination was made with wicker baskets shaped like balloons.

COLOR PALETTE: Ivory, gold, black and greenery.

STAFF HOURS: 80

Approximately how many months/years did you work on this wedding?
PLANNING TIME: 9 months
Number of staff from your company that worked on this wedding …..6 assistants and coordinators.
Unique information about the couple that informed the wedding plans/designs
They want something original to show their traditions and how they are in real life, the groom has many good friends who help him to make a surprise for the bride and use some original and traditional aides like the guajolote dance and serve mezcal in the dance floor.

What was your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?
BIGGEST CHALLENGE: Giving attention to every detail, even the little is our main feature, therefore develop an excellent minute by minute time line provide us the opportunity to solve any unforeseen and at the same time we give our providers enough time and space to perform to their best. Every location has their own set of rules involving dates and schedules and that’s why the minute by minute time line is so important because every event (weddings) needs up to 18 providers working at the same time to give an excellent service to our couple.

What were your key learnings and how will you apply these to future weddings?
LEARNINGS: One thing that never returns is time so the lesson we keep from this wedding is to be more date wise. This means that we will try to be more effective with less appointments with our next couple so we can do more productive in every single one “Less dates but more productive”

Are there any other details you would like to include?
The catholic ceremony took place in a beautiful ex convent built in the early 1,500’s with breath taking views from one of the most iconic city’s in Puebla- Atlixco. Named “Ex convento de San Francisco” this majestic structure is the oldest of its kind in the city. The temple architecture is a must see when you are un Mexico and taking advantage of this kind of structures with all the history between their walls allows to imagine a great script for the couples.
